This position is for a mechanical engineer to support the design and integration of mechanical components and subsystems on military ground platforms. The areas of focus will mainly include shock/vibration isolation, stowage, mechanism design and mounting of equipment but may include other areas such as hydraulics, pneumatics, automatic fire suppression systems and fuel systems, seating, steering, braking, and battery enclosures when needed.
Design subsystems and components to meet vehicle performance requirements including human factors, safety, environmental, ballistic and mine blast requirements.
Apply mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles for mechanical components and complex welded brackets, mounting provisions.
Support various projects by doing design and analysis, drawing mark-ups, tolerance stacks and generating source data for engineering changes. Write material requests and shop work requests, track delivery and stock of parts, participate in integration reviews, fit checks, and write reports.
Provide support to prototype and production vehicle build and follow-up, technical corrective action formulation, troubleshooting and redesign activities.
Conduct failure analysis and corrective action.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Not a CAD Designer role.
5-7 years related experience.
Must have working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles including mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, welding, mechanisms, and shock isolation.
Be experienced in working with teams and effective in communicating across many disciplines and functional organizations.
Solid modeling experience with NX and Creo and fluency with Teamcenter and Vis Mockup.
Must have the ability to climb into military vehicles.
Ability to travel and work overtime when required, which may occasionally include weekends and holidays.
